Women of Mary
This organization aims at fostering in its members a fervent devotion, reverence, and love towards the Blessed Virgin Mary. This organization shall strive to keep St. Joseph Church clean and presentable at all times so that the building shall be a worthy place for worship. The Women of Mary shall also attend to the needs of bereaved families of the parish.
Any woman who is a member of the parish and has reached the age of 18 years is a member of the Women of Mary.
Meetings are held the first Wednesday in the months of September, October, November, December, February, March, April, and May at 1:00 pm in the Parish Center. May and December are social meetings with a luncheon held at noon.
OBJECTIVES of the WOMEN OF MARY
1) Purchase, launder, and mend altar linens
2) Sacristan work
3) Select and care for seasonal flowers
4) Pray the Rosary at local nursing homes
5) Organize Prayer Power phone chain
6) Sponsor annual bake sale in the spring
7)Provide a bereavement dinner following the funeral of a parishioner or their spouse. They may receive a $20 meat tray or have 2 masses said if they prefer not to have a meal provided. Sympathy cards will be sent to parishioners in the event of the death of other immediate family members not belonging to our parish (i.e. parent, child, or sibling)
8) Make quilts that are to be raffled at church picnic
9) Offer a mass in November for all living and deceased members of the Women of Mary
10) Pray the Rosary upon the death of an active or honorary member
11) Offer a mass during the Christmas season for shut-ins of the parish and send them Christmas cards
